DATA has new permanent home

The Delaware Area Tran­sit Agency has a new per­ma­nent home. The orga­ni­za­tion final­ized the pur­chase of the the build­ing at 119 Hen­der­son Court and the prop­erty at 118 Hen­der­son Court, near the inter­sec­tion of Lon­don Road and Pitts­burgh Drive in Delaware, DATA Exec­u­tive Direc­tor Denny Schoo­ley informed the Delaware County com­mis­sion­ers at their Mon­day morn­ing meeting.

Delaware County Com­mis­sion­ers approved a two-year con­tract for its high­way work­ers in the engi­neer­ing department.

Delaware County Com­mis­sion­ers on Mon­day approved the bid spec­i­fi­ca­tions for a road cul­vert replace­ment project that will require the clo­sure of one of Delaware County’s main arter­ies for up to three weeks.

Program helps economically disadvantaged

Even though Delaware County is the most afflu­ent of Ohio’s 88 coun­ties, there are still plenty of low to mod­er­ate income res­i­dents with needs that can­not be met due to a lack of finan­cial resources. To help peo­ple meet basic hous­ing needs, there is the Com­mu­nity Devel­op­ment Block Grant Pro­gram (CDBG), which the county will soon be accept­ing appli­ca­tions for.

Commissioner urges further discussion on power line issue

Delaware County Com­mis­sioner Den­nis Sta­ple­ton on Thurs­day asked a rep­re­sen­ta­tive of FirstEn­ergy Corp. to hold last minute dis­cus­sions with con­cerned Con­cord Town­ship res­i­dents before sub­mit­ting plans to the Ohio Power Sit­ting Board for a pro­posed 138,000-volt power line that could cut across the prop­er­ties of sev­eral town­ship homeowners.
