A Marengo-area man will likely serve three years in prison after changing his plea Tuesday on charges that he fractured the skull of his ex-girlfriend’s infant daughter. Jason M. Walters, 27, of 3035 Township Road 21, entered what’s known as an Alford Plea, a legal maneuver that acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to convict without admitting guilt, to a second-degree felony count of child endangerment. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop assault and domestic violence charges.
