A Delaware man who shot and killed his room­mate will serve 10 years in prison. Joel Sell­ers, 25, avoided a mur­der charge last month in the death of his child­hood friend George McArthur, but was found guilty of a lesser charge of vol­un­tary manslaughter.

Wife charged with attempted murder pleads not guilty

Chongkon­nee Thomas, who allegedly shot her hus­band in the back last week, pleaded not guilty Wednes­day morn­ing to one count of attempted mur­der and two counts of felo­nious assault.

Man pleads in child endangerment case

A Marengo-area man will likely serve three years in prison after chang­ing his plea Tues­day on charges that he frac­tured the skull of his ex-girlfriend’s infant daugh­ter. Jason M. Wal­ters, 27, of 3035 Town­ship Road 21, entered what’s known as an Alford Plea, a legal maneu­ver that acknowl­edges pros­e­cu­tors have enough evi­dence to con­vict with­out admit­ting guilt, to a second-degree felony count of child endan­ger­ment. As part of a plea deal, pros­e­cu­tors agreed to drop assault and domes­tic vio­lence charges.

Jury visits home of Ohioan charged in 11 deaths

CLEVELAND — Guided by flash­light and wear­ing face masks, jurors were met with rooms buzzing with flies and a high-heeled shoe left on a microwave Mon­day as they vis­ited the home of an Ohio man charged with killing 11 women and hid­ing their bod­ies around his property.

Delaware County Com­mon Pleas Judge Everett H. Krueger wants the thou­sands of peo­ple who have got­ten divorced in his court to feel con­fi­dent in the jus­tice sys­tem. That’s why his staff is begin­ning a review of divorce cases on the heels of a May 26 appel­late court rul­ing that over­turned a 2005 divorce he presided over.
