Bats: Insects for dinner

When you men­tion bats, many peo­ple have an instant reac­tion and it’s not often a pos­i­tive one. Our cul­ture is rich with bat imagery and every Octo­ber we can immerse our­selves in spine tin­gling spook­i­ness or dark and mys­te­ri­ous festivities.

Growing connections from farm to table

We are approach­ing the golden moments of sum­mer when toma­toes taste like toma­toes, eat­ing a peach requires a large nap­kin and pop­ping berries of red, blue, yel­low and black is just fun. The sea­son open­ing of the farm­ers’ mar­kets through­out Delaware County has begun.

Tumbling Nimblewill

It has been a slow, cold spring in Delaware County. Lawns all across the county lay dor­mant well into April, wait­ing for the right con­di­tions to break dor­mancy and begin to grow. Finally, we’re recov­er­ing from the one-two punch of last year’s hot, dry, long sum­mer and cold, snowy, long winter.
