COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — His cash advan­tage threat­ened, Pres­i­dent Barack Obama and his party are redou­bling their fundrais­ing efforts after robust hauls by Repub­li­can rival Mitt Rom­ney and a slew of GOP-leaning super PACs that are rak­ing in cash from the party faith­ful highly moti­vated to top­ple the Democrat.

It’s a dream come true! Delaware favorite Big Bad John, reined by David Miller, held off Roll With Joe in a head-to-head bat­tle in the final of the $526,800 Lit­tle Brown Jug as the sun slowly set in the west Sun­day evening at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.

More than a few peo­ple watch­ing the Lit­tle Brown Jug from the west side of the oval Thurs­day proudly dis­played their Delaware County pride. Even if they weren’t from Delaware County. “I’m not from here,” said one man who nonethe­less wore a sticker embla­zoned with “Big Bad John: Delaware County’s Home­town Horse” along with a photo of the horse.

Wednes­day was an “Idyl­lic” day for the favored Idyl­lic, owner-trainer Casie Cole­man and vet­eran dri­ver David Miller in the $292,350 Jugette 3-year-old filly pace at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.Idyllic, a 9-to-5 favorite, cap­tured the 41st Jugette in straight heats of 1:53.1 and 1:54 on a rain-soaked track that was rated any­where from “good” to “sloppy” as the day’s 21-race pro­gram was waged under on-and-off heavy show­ers through­out the afternoon.

Ohio’s Big Bad John is the 2–1 morn­ing line favorite for Saturday’s $1.5 mil­lion Pepsi North Amer­ica Cup for 3-year-old pac­ers at Mohawk Race­track, near Toronto.
