More than a few people watching the Little Brown Jug from the west side of the oval Thursday proudly displayed their Delaware County pride. Even if they weren’t from Delaware County. “I’m not from here,” said one man who nonetheless wore a sticker emblazoned with “Big Bad John: Delaware County’s Hometown Horse” along with a photo of the horse.

Wednesday was an “Idyllic” day for the favored Idyllic, owner-trainer Casie Coleman and veteran driver David Miller in the $292,350 Jugette 3-year-old filly pace at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.Idyllic, a 9-to-5 favorite, captured the 41st Jugette in straight heats of 1:53.1 and 1:54 on a rain-soaked track that was rated anywhere from “good” to “sloppy” as the day’s 21-race program was waged under on-and-off heavy showers throughout the afternoon.
