Long fight predicted in Guantanamo Sept. 11 case

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba — The U.S. has finally started the pros­e­cu­tion of five Guan­tanamo Bay pris­on­ers charged in the Sept. 11 attacks that killed nearly 3,000 peo­ple, but the trial won’t be start­ing any­time soon, and both sides said Sun­day that the case could con­tinue for years.

NEW YORK — Dominique Strauss-Kahn for­mally asserted his inno­cence Mon­day to charges he tried to rape a hotel maid, but the drama unfolded out­side the Man­hat­tan court­room as pro­test­ers jeered the for­mer Inter­na­tional Mon­e­tary Fund leader and lawyers for the house­keeper said she was eager to tes­tify despite a “smear cam­paign” against her.
