Librarians can assist you around the clock

It’s 10:30 p.m. You’re writing a report for work, and you realize that you need a critical question answered. Even though you’ve searched the Internet, you still haven’t found what you need. And the Delaware County District Library — with its knowledgeable and search-savvy librarians — is closed for the evening. What do you do?

Tax time means a trip to the library

It’s that time of year again, and dozens of you have already visited the Delaware County District Library seeking out tax forms. We have put tables for pre-printed federal, state and local tax forms in the vestibules at all locations for your convenience, but if you don’t find the form you’re looking for, you can always use the library’s Internet computers to search the IRS and Ohio Department of Taxation websites to print the form you need.

Valuing the generosity of friends

Over the last three years, the Friends of the Delaware County District Library have donated nearly $30,000 to the library, helping to provide you with enhanced library programs, services and products. I think it is a remarkable achievement, especially when you realize that our Friends of the Library group was organized only four short years ago. This group of dedicated, hardworking and enthusiastic volunteers — more than 200, currently — have held book sales, author and illustrator presentations, antique appraisal clinics and raffles to raise these funds, and they have been very generous in sharing them with the library.

The library is the place for pupils

With the holidays now pleasant memories, many folks have returned to their regular school schedules. The Delaware County District Library offers a wide menu of support for students of all kinds — traditional, nontraditional — and ages — children, teens and adults.

The Delaware County District Library opened its fourth branch this year. The $8.5-million, 33,000-square-foot Orange Branch Library at 7171 Gooding Blvd. in Delaware was made possible through voter support of a 2009 levy.

A gift to the library is a gift to the community

As 2011 draws to a close, if you are considering donating to various causes, organizations and charities, please include the Delaware County District Library in your considerations. Donating to the Library is a long-standing tradition in Delaware, and each year we receive several thousands of dollars from patrons who are honoring or remembering loved ones.

Library possesses several types of eReaders

If you’re confused about which eReader device to buy for yourself or for a gift, don’t despair — the Delaware County District Library is here to help. We have purchased two or three of several different types of eReaders, such as the Nook, Nook Reader, Kindle, Kindle Fire and even iPads in their latest versions, to demonstrate them and to allow you to have a hands-on experience with several devices, all in one place. Unlike retail stores, the library staff won’t encourage you to buy one type of eReader over another; our only goal is to make sure you have all the information you need to buy the one that best suits your needs.

Festive family fun at the library

During the next few weeks with the holidays and all that they entail crowding in on us, the children’s staff at the Delaware County District Library has put together a terrific line-up of programs for kids and families, to provide you with a bit of respite and your children a satisfying library experience. The library’s regular story time schedule is suspended in the last two weeks of December, but these programs are a great alternative.
