A computer-recycling teenager, a team of litter-collecting youngsters and a new library building were among award recipients at last week’s Keep Delaware County Beautiful’s annual awards reception at the Lodge at Deer Haven Preserve.

During a visit to the Delaware County District Library’s Main Branch, you may have noticed some minor construction and renovations taking place. You may remember that as part of the campaign pledges that the Library made when you approved our levy in 2009 was to update our existing facilities as well as construct the new Orange Branch.
What could be more inviting on a chilly November day that sitting down with a good read and a hot cup of coffee? Did you know that the Delaware County District Library has coffee shops in two of its locations? And did you know that you can bring a cup of coffee or any other beverage in a closed container into the library to sip while you work or relax?
“Delaware Artists Are Inspired by Books.” What a lovely idea! And what a lovely exhibit of several pieces of art created by members of the Delaware Artists Guild that is currently on display at the Delaware County District Library’s Main Library, 84 E. Winter St. Featuring several different types of media and artistic techniques, the exhibit highlights books that gave the artists inspiration to create.
A remarkable event occurred at the Delaware County District Library this week. The library’s circulation (the number of items you have checked out) surpassed one million for the year, and as of this writing, the number stands at 1,007,538. Thank you, Delaware, for your support of the library.

The group regularly holds book sales and other events that serve as fundraisers for the library. The current book sale will continue through 5 p.m. today at the Delaware branch of the DCDL.
