Delaware Area Career Center student Kenneth Ruzika was killed Tuesday in a crash near Mill Run Crossing. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 11 a.m., Delaware City Police Capt. Bruce Pijanowski said. Ruzika, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brian D. Knittle, 38, of Delaware passed away on Wednesday (March 28, 2012) from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A front-page story in last week’s Delaware Gazette noted the adoption of a contract for “respite” services for juveniles. The story incorrectly reported that the contract was for $110,000 rather than its actual value of just $10,000 (the Gazette kindly printed a correction the following day) and the article didn’t have the space to go into the reasons behind the use of respite care and the source of the funding used to provide it.

In the wake of a Gazette report detailing Delaware County Commissioner Ken O’Brien’s request for an investigation into county economic development director Gus Comstock’s acceptance of tickets to sporting events, fellow commissioner Dennis Stapleton asked Monday for the investigation to expand to cover all county employees and the gifts they may have accepted.
