As 2011 draws to a close, if you are considering donating to various causes, organizations and charities, please include the Delaware County District Library in your considerations. Donating to the Library is a long-standing tradition in Delaware, and each year we receive several thousands of dollars from patrons who are honoring or remembering loved ones.
During the next few weeks with the holidays and all that they entail crowding in on us, the children’s staff at the Delaware County District Library has put together a terrific line-up of programs for kids and families, to provide you with a bit of respite and your children a satisfying library experience. The library’s regular story time schedule is suspended in the last two weeks of December, but these programs are a great alternative.
You are cordially invited to the Delaware County District Library’s Holiday Open Houses this weekend, held at all district library locations. Please help us celebrate another successful year at the library while enjoying refreshments and music in a friendly atmosphere.
One of the more recent additions to the arsenal of tools the Delaware County District Library has to help us fulfill our mission of being our community’s information provider is the Gale Virtual Reference Library. “Delaware Artists Are Inspired by Books.” What a lovely idea! And what a lovely exhibit of several pieces of art created by members of the Delaware Artists Guild that is currently on display at the Delaware County District Library’s Main Library, 84 E. Winter St. Featuring several different types of media and artistic techniques, the exhibit highlights books that gave the artists inspiration to create.
A remarkable event occurred at the Delaware County District Library this week. The library’s circulation (the number of items you have checked out) surpassed one million for the year, and as of this writing, the number stands at 1,007,538. Thank you, Delaware, for your support of the library.

The libraries in Delaware County want to help you understand your credit report with a program entitled, “Credit Reports: Reading Your Credit Report” offered at two locations in the next few days.
The Delaware County District Library invites you to a very special program entitled “Disappearing Landscapes” featuring nationally known local artist Linda Wesner, who will discuss her passion for landscapes, particularly those in Delaware County. Wesner has been a resident intermittently for 25 years, but since her last return, she noticed that beautiful scenes are disappearing daily, and she is trying to capture the rural side of Delaware County before it vanishes to growth and development.
