SEATTLE — Pres­i­dent Barack Obama wasted lit­tle time cast­ing Repub­li­can rival Mitt Rom­ney as “back­wards on equal­ity” on Thurs­day, eager to trans­form his his­toric embrace of same-sex mar­riage into donor enthu­si­asm and grass­roots vigor.

WASHINGTON — The new debt-slashing bud­get plan pushed by House Repub­li­cans heated up as a pres­i­den­tial cam­paign issue Sun­day as the proposal’s archi­tect, Rep. WASHINGTON — Pres­i­dent Barack Obama announced unex­pect­edly on Mon­day that chief of staff William Daley was quit­ting and head­ing home, cap­ping a short and rocky tenure that had been expected to last until Elec­tion Day in November.

County elections director fired

One of the two co-directors of the Delaware County Board of Elec­tions has been fired. The four-member board that over­sees the county’s elec­tion office on Wednes­day voted unan­i­mously to dis­miss Demo­c­ra­tic Board of Elec­tions Direc­tor Brian Mumford.

Both sides insist judge make Ohio remap choice

COLUMBUS — With time run­ning out to move the state’s pres­i­den­tial and U.S. House pri­maries back to March, an Ohio con­gress­man is ask­ing a judge to put con­tested GOP-drawn con­gres­sional lines into place immediately.
