WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican lawmakers told Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday to fire some Justice Department subordinates over the flawed arms-trafficking investigation called Operation Fast and Furious.
The news media rightfully took note this week of the remarkable story of U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords. Giffords was shot in the head on Jan. 8 and has continued her remarkable recovery to the point that she could travel to Florida to watch her husband Mark blast off as a member of the crew for the final flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavor. At the same time, the man who shot her, Jared Loughner, was found not competent to stand trial for the murders of six people, including a federal judge.
