Blast kills Iran nuclear expert amid ‘covert war’

TEHRAN, Iran — It seemed a clock­work killing: Motor­cy­cle rid­ers flashed by and attached a mag­netic bomb onto a car car­ry­ing a nuclear sci­en­tist work­ing at Iran’s main ura­nium enrich­ment facil­ity. By the time the blast tore apart the sil­ver Peu­geot, the bike was blocks away, weav­ing through Tehran traf­fic after what Iran calls the lat­est strike in an esca­lat­ing covert war.

If you liked 2011, you’ll probably love 2012

Polit­i­cal grid­lock, strained fam­ily bud­gets, finan­cial crises through­out the euro-zone, mediocre U.S. employ­ment and eco­nomic growth… all of these things and more that exem­pli­fied 2011 are likely to con­tinue into 2012. And all of this despite the per­cep­tion among many econ­o­mists that 2011 ended on a strong note that may pos­si­bly con­tinue into 2012.

Area resident adopts deployed platoon

This past Christ­mas, many par­ents of deployed ser­vice men and women sent care pack­ages to a fam­ily mem­ber serv­ing in Afghanistan. It’s some­thing that par­ents typ­i­cally do for those serv­ing in com­bat zones, some­thing to remind them that folks at home care about them and appre­ci­ate what they are doing.

Ohio house comes down where remains of 11 found

CLEVELAND — The home where a ser­ial killer dumped the remains of the 11 women he mur­dered was torn apart Tues­day by a demo­li­tion crew, a move that neigh­bors and vic­tims’ rel­a­tives said would help bring clo­sure and stop gawk­ers from seek­ing out what some have dubbed a “house of horrors.”

Powell moves forward with solar shelter, carport

Powell’s solar-paneled pic­nic shel­ter and car­port will be con­structed to resem­ble a train sta­tion in keep­ing with the city’s exist­ing theme. City offi­cials this week received a peek at the lat­est Horne and King Archi­tects design ren­der­ings, which fea­ture ele­ments and a color scheme from the Vil­lage Green munic­i­pal build­ing and police sta­tion and takes on a train sta­tion feel with the adja­cent CSX tracks.
