Syrian opposition head offers to resign

BEIRUT — Syria’s main oppo­si­tion coun­cil is crum­bling under the weight of infight­ing and divi­sions over issues that cut to the heart of the rev­o­lu­tion, includ­ing accu­sa­tions that the move­ment is becom­ing as auto­cratic as the regime it wants to drive out.

Draco, the Dragon, was an impor­tant con­stel­la­tions to the ancients. The ancient Egyp­tians even wor­shipped a sin­gle star within its envi­rons. The star isn’t par­tic­u­larly bright, and these days, it isn’t even par­tic­u­larly well placed in the sky. Why was it so important?

Nuclear plant oper­a­tors try­ing to avoid com­plete reac­tor melt­downs said Thurs­day that they were close to com­plet­ing a new power line that might end Japan’s cri­sis, but sev­eral omi­nous signs have also emerged: a surge in radi­a­tion lev­els, unex­plained white smoke and spent fuel rods that U.S. offi­cials said could be on the verge of spew­ing radioac­tive material.
