COLUMBUS — Opponents of an Ohio bill banning abortions at the first detectable fetal heartbeat told senators Tuesday the measure is unconstitutional, radical and cruel and would effectively ban abortion in the state.
Each month, the Delaware County District Library’s librarians work diligently to select books, DVDs and audio books to be purchased for the library system. They read reviews, watch professional journals, check library blogs and even visit book stores to make sure that they are choosing items that are responsive to and useful for the Delaware community. As the new items are added to the shelves, they are distributed among the four branches: Delaware (Main), Powell, Ostrander and Orange.
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain rolled out an economic plan in this pivotal primary state Wednesday firmly believing it would drop unemployment to no more than 5 percent, but he acknowledged he was still crunching the numbers.

The decades-old Teen of the Week event this year was sponsored by Columbus State Community College and The Delaware Gazette. More than 100 teens, parents and community members attended this year’s reception that acknowledged the 30 teens featured weekly as the Teen of the Week over the past school year. The event also heralded the announcement for Teen of the Year. This year the honor went to Hayes High School senior Graham Bowling, who is also the recipient of a $2,500 scholarship.
