For the second time in less than a week, Delaware County commissioners discussed connecting the Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities (DCBDD) to an underground high-speed fiber optic cable network that is partially county owned and operated.

Incumbent county commissioner Ken O’Brien is running for another term to “ensure the taxpayer dollars are wisely spent”; and to finish projects currently underway.
While the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression has taken its toll on other counties across the state and country, Delaware County has weathered the storm relatively well, Delaware County commissioners Dennis Stapleton, Tommy Thompson and Ken O’Brien reported Thursday during the annual State of the County presentation hosted by the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce.
The city of Delaware will soon have a new representative heading up its job creation and retention efforts. The city has hired Dan Whited to serve as its next economic development coordinator.
Powell City Council made official Tuesday a lease agreement with the Powell Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), the entity overseeing the new business incubator in the city’s downtown. The building at 44 N. Liberty St. is the former Liberty Township fire station and is city property. It has been newly renovated as a business incubator and conference center space and meant to encourage fledgling small businesses by offering low-rent office space and support services.
