Delaware County is not only the fastest grow­ing county in the state of Ohio, it is also gray­ing more rapidly than any other county in the Buck­eye State, accord­ing to a report released this week by the Scripps Geron­tol­ogy Cen­ter at Miami University.

Valuing the generosity of friends

Over the last three years, the Friends of the Delaware County Dis­trict Library have donated nearly $30,000 to the library, help­ing to pro­vide you with enhanced library pro­grams, ser­vices and prod­ucts. I think it is a remark­able achieve­ment, espe­cially when you real­ize that our Friends of the Library group was orga­nized only four short years ago. This group of ded­i­cated, hard­work­ing and enthu­si­as­tic vol­un­teers — more than 200, cur­rently — have held book sales, author and illus­tra­tor pre­sen­ta­tions, antique appraisal clin­ics and raf­fles to raise these funds, and they have been very gen­er­ous in shar­ing them with the library.

Stapleton’s ‘State of the County’: Delaware County weathers storm

While the worst eco­nomic down­turn since the Great Depres­sion has taken its toll on other coun­ties across the state and coun­try, Delaware County has weath­ered the storm rel­a­tively well, Delaware County com­mis­sion­ers Den­nis Sta­ple­ton, Tommy Thomp­son and Ken O’Brien reported Thurs­day dur­ing the annual State of the County pre­sen­ta­tion hosted by the Delaware Area Cham­ber of Commerce.
