While tap­ping the Utica Shale that much of Delaware County sits atop of could cre­ate riches for res­i­dents, the process is also fraught with envi­ron­men­tal risks.

300-foot buffer proposed for Ohio park drilling

COLUMBUS — A state nat­ural resource agency’s pro­posed rules for drilling in state parks would require nat­ural gas and oil com­pa­nies to stay at least 300 feet — the length of a foot­ball field — from camp­grounds, cer­tain water­ways and sites deemed his­tor­i­cally or archae­o­log­i­cally valuable.

Shale boom could be heading Delaware County’s way

While the Cen­tral Ohio gas and oil boom has yet to get under way, it could prove to be a major eco­nomic boost for Delaware County and its res­i­dents when it does com­mence if other Ohio coun­ties are any indication.
