Texting ban, teen restrictions clears Ohio Senate

COLUMBUS — Ohio drivers would be banned from texting, and teens couldn’t use their cellphones, iPads or other electronics behind the wheel under a bill that the Ohio Senate passed on Thursday. Some state senators argued the legislation chips away at personal freedom, while others said it doesn’t go far enough to target distracted driving.

Library possesses several types of eReaders

If you’re confused about which eReader device to buy for yourself or for a gift, don’t despair — the Delaware County District Library is here to help. We have purchased two or three of several different types of eReaders, such as the Nook, Nook Reader, Kindle, Kindle Fire and even iPads in their latest versions, to demonstrate them and to allow you to have a hands-on experience with several devices, all in one place. Unlike retail stores, the library staff won’t encourage you to buy one type of eReader over another; our only goal is to make sure you have all the information you need to buy the one that best suits your needs.

Voters to choose 2 governors, decide ballot issues

COLUMBUS (AP) — Votes on immigration, union rights and President Obama’s health care law could hold hints of the American public’s mindset, four years into an economic downturn and one year from the presidential election.

Dell cuts guidance, showing industry uncertainty

SAN FRANCISCO — Dell Inc.’s decision to cut its revenue forecast for the year shows how computer makers are getting pulled in two directions at once, stretching some investors’ faith to a breaking point. Corporate and government demand for PCs has been strong for the past year, helping to lift the industry after the Great Recession. But consumer demand has collapsed because of high unemployment and the lure of new gadgets such as tablet computers and smartphones.

College mental health screenings going high-tech

CHICAGO — Look around a waiting room at a university counseling center and you’ll see students wrestling with all sorts of issues: The one who’s failing because of binge drinking. Another who’s struggling with a roommate conflict, or a recent break-up. Yet another who’s stressed out and suicidal. Many centers are more swamped than ever, college therapists say, particularly at this time of year, in the frenzy of final exams and job searches.
