NEW YORK — Bank stocks tur­bocharged a rally across the finan­cial mar­kets Tues­day, and all three major stock indexes posted their biggest gains of the year.

Missing Powell woman found dead in Italy

ROME — The body of a Pow­ell woman miss­ing in Tus­cany for three days was found Wednes­day beside a busy road­way in what appears to be a hit-and-run acci­dent, Ital­ian police said. Cara­binieri Col. Anto­nio Frassinetto told a news con­fer­ence that the body of Alli­son Owens, 23, of Pow­ell, was found in a canal beside the heav­ily traf­ficked road in San Gio­vanni Valdarno.

SAN FRANCISCO — Steve Jobs, the mind behind the iPhone, iPad and other devices that turned Apple Inc. into one of the world’s most pow­er­ful com­pa­nies, resigned as the company’s CEO on Wednes­day, say­ing he can no longer han­dle the job. The move appears to be the result of an unspec­i­fied med­ical con­di­tion for which he took an indef­i­nite leave from his post in Jan­u­ary. Apple’s chief oper­at­ing offi­cer, Tim Cook, has been named CEO.

COLUMBUS — A for­mer Ohio State Uni­ver­sity stu­dent strug­gling to make the tran­si­tion from the mil­i­tary to col­lege life emailed a bomb threat to the FBI the day he was sched­uled to take an exam, the FBI said Mon­day at a court hearing.
