Egypt Islamist candidate vows break with old ways

CAIRO — The Mus­lim Brotherhood’s can­di­date for the Egypt­ian pres­i­den­tial runoff promised Tues­day he would break sharply with the ways of ousted auto­crat Hosni Mubarak, a day after angry pro­test­ers burned down the head­quar­ters of his chal­lenger who served as prime min­is­ter in the old regime.

CAIRO — A mob set fire late Mon­day to the cam­paign head­quar­ters of one of the two Egypt­ian pres­i­den­tial politi­cians fac­ing each other in a runoff that will decide a new leader after last year’s pop­u­lar upris­ing, the first sign of unrest after the vot­ing yielded divi­sive candidates.
