Same goal, opposing plans for debt ‘super’ panel

WASHINGTON (AP) — Dig­ging in for a bruis­ing strug­gle, Repub­li­cans on Con­gress’ pow­er­ful deficit-fighting “super­com­mit­tee” tar­geted Social Secu­rity and gov­ern­ment health care spend­ing Tues­day while Democ­rats pressed for higher tax rev­enue as part of any deal to reduce red ink by at least $1.2 tril­lion over the next decade.

Olentangy settles lawsuit, receives $2.1 million

The Olen­tangy School Dis­trict is to receive about $2.1 mil­lion after set­tling a law­suit it filed last year against a health insur­ance con­sor­tium involv­ing eight other edu­ca­tional entities.

Obama: Still differences on debt, new talks Sunday

WASHINGTON (AP) — Under an urgent dead­line, Pres­i­dent Barack Obama and con­gres­sional nego­tia­tors set their sights on the nation’s tax sys­tem and cher­ished ben­e­fit pro­grams Thurs­day in hopes of strik­ing a mas­sive bud­get deal to raise the nation’s debt ceil­ing. Obama said the two sides were still far apart and called every­one back to the White House on Sunday.
