A shop­per in Los Ange­les pepper-sprayed her com­pe­ti­tion for an Xbox and scuf­fles broke out else­where around the U.S. as bargain-hunters crowded stores in an earlier-than-usual start to the mad­ness known as Black Friday.

Egypt Cabinet offers to resign but protests go on

CAIRO (AP)— Egypt’s civil­ian Cab­i­net offered to resign Mon­day after three days of vio­lent clashes between demon­stra­tors and secu­rity forces in Tahrir Square, but the action failed to sat­isfy pro­test­ers deeply frus­trated with the new mil­i­tary rulers.

A tag, a trace and a tempest

The movie ver­sion of “The Fugi­tive” is a great exam­ple of the Amer­i­can crime inves­ti­ga­tion story. The wife of a promi­nent doc­tor is mur­dered in her own home. The only per­son found in the home is her hus­band and he’s cov­ered in blood. His claims that an intruder com­mit­ted the mur­der seem far-fetched and he is con­victed of the unthink­able crime.
