Thousands gather at Miami rally for Trayvon Martin

MIAMI — Polit­i­cal lead­ers, sport stars and enter­tain­ers were among sev­eral thou­sand peo­ple who gath­ered Sun­day at a Miami rally to call for an arrest in the fatal shoot­ing of an unarmed Florida teenager by a neigh­bor­hood watch volunteer.

Jug eligibles to compete in Meadowlands eliminations

Major Lit­tle Brown Jug con­tenders Up The Credit and Big Jim are among 18 colts and one filly entered in Saturday’s elim­i­na­tions for the $1 mil­lion Mead­ow­lands Pace. Thir­teen of the colts and the filly Drop The Ball are also eli­gi­ble to the Lit­tle Brown Jug.The top five fin­ish­ers in each of the two $50,000 elim­i­na­tions will advance to the Mead­ow­lands Pace Final on July 16.

Big Bad John headed to Hoosier Cup

Trainer Ron Pot­ter told harnessracing.com Mon­day after­noon that although the beaten North Amer­ica Cup favorite Big Bad John came out of the race last Sat­ur­day night at Mohawk Race­track slightly sick after expe­ri­enc­ing some pad­dock jit­ters, he expects the 3-year-old colt to be com­pletely healthy for this Sat­ur­day night’s $500,000 Hoosier Cup at Hoosier Park in Indiana.

Big Bad John favored in Saturday’s race

Ohio’s Big Bad John is the 2–1 morn­ing line favorite for Saturday’s $1.5 mil­lion Pepsi North Amer­ica Cup for 3-year-old pac­ers at Mohawk Race­track, near Toronto.
