S&P cracks 1,400 for first time since 2008

NEW YORK — The stock mar­ket cleared another bar­rier Thurs­day in its long recov­ery from the Great Reces­sion: The Stan­dard & Poor’s 500 index closed above 1,400 for the first time since June 2008.
