Officials hire new employees to sit on county board

Say­ing they are too strapped for time to do it them­selves, two Delaware County elected offi­cials have hired peo­ple to sit on the Delaware County Board of Revi­sions, the gov­ern­ment body through which peo­ple can con­test their appraised prop­erty value. One of the “new” employ­ees is no stranger to Delaware County gov­ern­ment — Trea­surer Jon Peter­son has hired his retired pre­de­ces­sor, Dale Wil­gus, 67, for a part-time job in his office. Wil­gus retired in 2009 after serv­ing more than 20 years as Delaware County treasurer.

Tiberi speaks to business leaders at chamber event

In a speech lay­ing out Repub­li­can eco­nomic pro­pos­als for tax reform, U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-Genoa Town­ship) said a “dys­func­tional” Democratic-controlled U.S. Sen­ate holds the blame for a lack of action com­ing out of Wash­ing­ton. Tiberi, appear­ing Thurs­day at an event arranged by the Delaware Area Cham­ber of Com­merce, spoke over the back­drop of a slideshow that con­cluded with a photo of for­mer U.S. Pres­i­dent and con­ser­v­a­tive icon Ronald Reagan.

Tiberi explains debt ceiling vote

Echo­ing the words of many other law­mak­ers who voted with him, U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-Genoa Town­ship) said in an inter­view with the Gazette that the debt-ceiling increase bill passed this week is a “first step” toward a more sus­tain­able future for the United States government.

At the June 2 reg­u­lar meet­ing of the Genoa Town­ship Board of Trustees, town­ship admin­is­tra­tor Paul Wise thanked Trek Colum­bus, Ohio­Health, Floyd Browne Group and Con­gress­man Pat Tiberi for their sup­port of the Township’s May 21 Bicy­cle Tour fundraiser.
