Ohio governor, GOP leaders stage union law meeting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Union lead­ers passed on meet­ing with Ohio Gov. John Kasich Fri­day to dis­cuss a pos­si­ble com­pro­mise over the state’s new col­lec­tive bar­gain­ing law, rebuff­ing an effort intended to remove a ques­tion from the Novem­ber bal­lot ask­ing vot­ers to repeal it.

Ohio Senate approves sweeping $56B budget

COLUMBUS — State sen­a­tors voted Tues­day to approve Ohio’s nearly $56 bil­lion, two-year state bud­get bill, a far-reaching col­lec­tion of pol­icy changes that would pri­va­tize state oper­a­tions, over­haul Med­ic­aid, limit unions, ban most abor­tions at pub­lic hos­pi­tals and pro­vide tax breaks on invest­ments, income and estates.

Budget negotiators to meet on Ohio spending plan

COLUMBUS — Bud­get nego­tia­tors in the Ohio Leg­is­la­ture were expected to hear Wednes­day how much money the state will have to spend in its next two-year bud­get, as the scram­ble begins over whether more money should be stashed away or shifted to other priorities.
