One of the two co-directors of the Delaware County Board of Elec­tions has been fired. The four-member board that over­sees the county’s elec­tion office on Wednes­day voted unan­i­mously to dis­miss Demo­c­ra­tic Board of Elec­tions Direc­tor Brian Mumford.

Danessa Hig­gins appeared dis­traught when she retold how two buses “flew” down the road while she and a young child were attempt­ing to cross the street.

County tourism agency wants Columbus bed taxes

Commissioners reject raises for sheriff’s deputies

Delaware County com­mis­sion­ers on Thurs­day unan­i­mously rejected a fact-finders report that rec­om­mended giv­ing union­ized Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies a 3 per­cent raise this year, and a 2.75 per­cent increase in 2012. “Any wage increase of less than 3 per­cent would likely result in deputies’ real income being less in 2011 than it was in 2010,” fact-finder Alan M. Ruben wrote in a 78-page report.
