Did you know there is no such thing as a shamrock plant, at least botanically speaking? There are, however, hundreds of varieties of clover. Almost any plant that has three clover shaped leaves and green is often called a shamrock.

Last week, the revised USDA Hardiness Zone Map was released. The revision is the first change since 1990. Most locations were moved one-half of a zone higher. The USDA attribute the changes to these criteria: They used data measured at weather stations over a 30 year period (1976–2005), while the 1990 map used data from a 13-year period (1974–1986).

When we grow our vegetables during their season we tend to follow “rules.” Sow the seeds, let them grow a few inches, thin them out, let them grow a little more, pick and eat. With microgreens you need to forget all the “rules” and discover a whole new way to grow your greens all year around.

The Harlem Township Garden Club held its 60th anniversary party and guest night at the Harlem Township Fire House Community Hall on Ohio 605. All the Delaware Garden Club members were invited. There were 18 Harlem Township members present, and 34 guests and garden club members from Croton Garden Club, Growing Friends Garden Club and Powell Garden Club.
