Did you know there is no such thing as a sham­rock plant, at least botan­i­cally speak­ing? There are, how­ever, hun­dreds of vari­eties of clover. Almost any plant that has three clover shaped leaves and green is often called a shamrock.

Will figs grow in Delaware?

Last week, the revised USDA Har­di­ness Zone Map was released. The revi­sion is the first change since 1990. Most loca­tions were moved one-half of a zone higher. The USDA attribute the changes to these cri­te­ria: They used data mea­sured at weather sta­tions over a 30 year period (1976–2005), while the 1990 map used data from a 13-year period (1974–1986).

Inter­est in com­mu­nity gar­dens has reached an all-time high, but a gar­den could fiz­zle and fade unless the right train­ing and sup­port is pro­vided for startup groups.

Harlem Twp. Garden Club celebrates 60th

The Harlem Town­ship Gar­den Club held its 60th anniver­sary party and guest night at the Harlem Town­ship Fire House Com­mu­nity Hall on Ohio 605. All the Delaware Gar­den Club mem­bers were invited. There were 18 Harlem Town­ship mem­bers present, and 34 guests and gar­den club mem­bers from Cro­ton Gar­den Club, Grow­ing Friends Gar­den Club and Pow­ell Gar­den Club.
