Orange Town­ship res­i­dents who attended Tues­day night’s pub­lic infor­ma­tion meet­ing on a pro­posed pedes­trian bridge that would cross U.S. 23 are in favor of the project pro­vided it gets enough use, and many doubt that it will.

Elected official’s son admits to stealing from township

A for­mer Delaware Town­ship main­te­nance worker on Tues­day admit­ted to steal­ing tax­payer money to buy him­self clothes and other per­sonal items. Anthony F. Amato, Jr., 34, of 510 Anna Rose Lane in West­er­ville, also agreed to tes­tify against his mother, Delaware Town­ship Fis­cal Offi­cer Phyl­lis Amato, who is accused of con­ceal­ing her son’s expen­di­tures and pay­ing him for full-time work even though he was a part-time employee.

101 candidates file for local elections

Some elected offi­cials in Delaware County have cho­sen to bow out of pub­lic office at the end of the year, while other famil­iar faces are seek­ing to make a return to the bal­lot this Novem­ber. In total, 101 peo­ple filed paper­work with the Delaware County Board of Elec­tions to run for 62 var­i­ous town­ship, school board and vil­lage and city coun­cil posi­tions. The dead­line for can­di­dates wish­ing to run for local offices expir­ing at the end of this year passed at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Liberty Township policy targets Ash trees

Remov­ing the ash tree was one impor­tant change made offi­cial Mon­day night to the Lib­erty Town­ship tree pol­icy. First approved in 1999, Lib­erty Township’s 12-year-old tree plant­ing and man­age­ment pol­icy was tar­geted and under­taken for updates by town­ship admin­is­tra­tor Dave Ander­son and zon­ing inspec­tor Holly Foust.
