Buckeye Valley officials to cut $1.3 million

To quell rumors spread­ing in the com­mu­nity about upcom­ing bud­get reduc­tions, Buck­eye Val­ley School Dis­trict offi­cials plan to unveil a pro­posed list of cuts total­ing $1.3 mil­lion in sav­ings at the Feb­ru­ary board of edu­ca­tion meet­ing, they announced Tuesday.

WASHINGTON — A week­end gov­ern­ment shut­down that nei­ther party wanted was averted when Con­gress approved a com­pro­mise spend­ing bill Thurs­day, as lead­ers over­came major defec­tions by Repub­li­cans angry over what they con­sid­ered exces­sive spend­ing. To the dis­may of lib­er­als, the mea­sure also blocks Obama admin­is­tra­tion plans to impose stricter nutri­tion stan­dards on school lunches.

The best advice I can give is, “Don’t rush into a pur­chase.” You’ll find a lot of junk tele­scopes out there, and you need to make a thought­ful deci­sion about what you put under the tree.
