Report: Mercury levels mostly down in Great Lakes

DETROIT — Mer­cury lev­els have dropped about 20 per­cent in the Great Lakes in recent decades but remain dan­ger­ously high and are get­ting worse in some places, sci­en­tists said in a report released Tuesday.

The Internet strikes again

Some­times, a case that seems sim­ple and benign is really about much more than it appears and some­thing much deeper lurks beneath the sur­face. Such a case was decided this week by the 7th U.S. Cir­cuit Court of Appeals out of a mat­ter from the west­ern dis­trict of Wis­con­sin. Though it appeared to be a rel­a­tively local dis­pute, it had the poten­tial to have major impli­ca­tions for schools like The Ohio State University.

Ohio voters will get to decide fate of union law

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio vot­ers will get to decide in Novem­ber whether to repeal the state’s new col­lec­tive bar­gain­ing law, which would let pub­lic worker unions nego­ti­ate wages but not health care, sick time or pen­sion benefits.
