Va. Tech marking 5 years since campus massacre

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Stu­dents were headed to class Mon­day at Vir­ginia Tech, the first year the school hasn’t sus­pended instruc­tion to mark the anniver­sary of a 2007 ram­page that left 32 peo­ple and the gun­man dead. The mas­sacre was the dead­liest mass shoot­ing in mod­ern U.S. history.

Congress dodges one crisis, now on to the next

The day after Con­gress man­aged to avoid a gov­ern­ment shut­down — again — Repub­li­cans and Democ­rats stared ahead Tues­day at major fights over spend­ing that under­score a deep divide that’s sure to define the fast-approaching national elections.

Liberty’s Uhle is Athlete of the Month

Olen­tangy Liberty’s Joey Uhle didn’t punc­tu­ate his senior sea­son with the sto­ry­book end­ing he was look­ing for, but that doesn’t mean he’ll for­get it any time soon.Uhle capped the spring with a second-place fin­ish at Saturday’s Divi­sion I OHSAA Track and Field Cham­pi­onships, clear­ing 16–6 in the pole vault.
