Jordan’s king pays rare visit to West Bank

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — Jordan’s King Abdul­lah II paid a rare visit to the West Bank on Mon­day to show sup­port for Pales­tin­ian Pres­i­dent Mah­moud Abbas, as the two mod­er­ate lead­ers try to engage with pre­vi­ously shunned Islamists now on the rise in the region.

Hamas official: Gaza militants agree to cease-fire

JERUSALEM — Gaza mil­i­tants agreed to a cease-fire with Israel to stop three days of vio­lence, a Hamas offi­cial said Sun­day, after a deadly attack on Israelis near the Egypt-Israel bor­der set off a round of Israeli airstrikes and rocket bar­rages from Gaza.
