DELAWARE — Kurt L. Powers, 56, of Delaware, passed away at Riverside Hospital in Columbus Thursday afternoon, Sept. 29, 2016 surrounded by his family.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1960, in Lima to the late Ronald Ellis Powers and Sandra L. (Thomas) Powers of Roanoke, Ind. He was a 1978 graduate of Big Walnut High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a signal electrician for ODOT District 6 and Vice President of OCSEA/AFSCME District 6, Delaware, Chapter 2100.

Kurt treasured time spent with his family especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed bow and rifle hunting for deer and loved watching The Ohio State Buckeyes football and the Cleveland Browns. Kurt loved to spend time with his family and friends and bartering with his friends doing home repairs and his specialty was electrical work.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Janet (Price) Powers and they were married Sept. 10, 2010, in Delaware; daughter, Cassandra (Kenneth Kirk) Sissney of Pilot Point, Texas; sons, Mathew (Marissa) Powers of Denton, Texas, Dalton Powers of Delaware; stepson, Gage Sulser of Delaware; grandchildren, Matysen, Brayden, Brooke; brothers, Thomas of Warren Minn., Howard (Tracie) of Denver, Colo.

Friends may call one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service on Saturday Oct. 1, 2016, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William St.) Delaware, with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
