Court docs: Indiana cop fired at least 3 times at detective

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis police officer accused of shooting a fellow officer allegedly fired at least three rounds as that man interviewed his estranged wife about a domestic violence incident.

A probable cause affidavit states that Officer Adrian Aurs forced his way unannounced into his wife’s apartment Friday night, pointed a gun at a detective interviewing her and fired at least three times at him from close range.

The detective sustained non-life-threatening wounds. He fired at least once at Aurs, missing him, before Aurs fled through a window.

The affidavit says Aurs called his wife’s father as he fled in his truck to say he was sorry.

Aurs is charged with attempted murder. He was arrested Saturday in Cincinnati and faces a Tuesday extradition hearing on efforts to return him to Indiana.
