CLEVELAND (AP) — Authorities say a suspect shot at a deputy sheriff who intervened in a downtown Cleveland robbery, and the officer returned fire, shooting the suspect in the leg.
The shooting occurred around 8:30 a.m. Monday on a busy street during rush hour. Authorities say the suspect has been hospitalized. His condition wasn’t immediately known. The Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County sheriff’s deputy wasn’t injured.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office confirmed the shooting but said he couldn’t provide further details.
He says the office is investigating.
