GOP candidate who lost Ohio House race says she’s a Democrat

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A member of the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County Republican Party Central Committee who badly lost a race for an Ohio House seat has acknowledged she’s actually a Democrat and resigned from the committee to return to the Democratic Party.

Cleveland.com (http://bit.ly/2fF1tZJ ) reports Cassandra McDonald revealed her stance in an election night Facebook message with a photo of her at a campaign rally for Hillary Clinton. McDonald shared positive reflections on her own campaign experience and a prediction, writing: “This is the beginning of a very successful career in politics.”

She says she was persuaded to run as a Republican and felt minorities need more representation in that party. She joined the GOP committee after the primary but resigned last week, alleging mistreatment and a lack of support from local party leaders.
