Pacers blank Irish to win fifth straight

The Delaware Hayes girls soccer team continues to cruise, most recently knocking off host Dublin Scioto 4-0 in OCC-Capital Division action Thursday night in Dublin.

The win, the Pacers’ fifth straight, improved their conference record to a perfect 4-0 with just two league games left. Hayes (8-2-1) hosts newcomer Westland next Thursday before traveling to Westerville South the week after that.

As for the win over the Irish, Khloe White led the charge with a pair of goals while Mady Haser and Addie Reed had the others.

Chloe Skeens and the defense took care of the rest. Skeens made four saves en route to the shutout while Scioto keeper Lana Hoyle, who was tested all night, finished with 10.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Delaware Christian bumped its record to 13-3 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League with a four-set win over host Shekinah Christian Thursday night in Plain City.

The Eagles won the first two sets by respective scores of 25-19 and 25-20. The Flames took the next, 25-18, before DCS smoothed out the scoring summary with a 25-20 win in the fourth.

Bekah Williams had 33 digs and 16 kills while Ellie Tiede collected 14 digs and 12 kills in the win. Other standouts included Jasmine Proper, who had 24 assists, 10 digs and three aces; and Kyra Lansford, who had 13 assists, 12 digs, six kills and five aces.

Worthington Kilbourne 3, Delaware Hayes 2

The Pacers climbed out of a two-set hole to even the match, but couldn’t complete the comeback as the visiting Wolves escaped with a 25-22, 25-14, 22-25, 25-21, 15-2 league win Thursday night in Delaware.

Claire Davis led Hayes with 21 kills while Macy Harvey chipped in 11. Davis also had a team-best seven aces while Natalie Madden finished with 17 assists.

Olentangy Orange 3, Hilliard Davidson 0

Camryn Coomer had 10 kills, Emma Cugino had four aces, Kylie Perone had five blocks and Izzy Scholvin ran the offense with 25 assists as the Pioneers rolled to a straight-set win over the host Wildcats Thursday night in Hilliard.

The Pioneers won a tight first set 25-22 before sealing the deal with wins of 25-21 and 25-10 in the second and third, respectively.

Also: Olentangy Liberty def. Dublin Coffman 19-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14; Olentangy Berlin def. Hilliard Darby 25-16, 25-16, 25-18.

BOYS SOCCER

Delaware Hayes picked up a key league win Thursday, handling visiting Dublin Scioto 3-1 thanks to goals from Isaac Isenbarger, Tyler Huff and Brady Kuhlman.

Isenbarger also had an assist for the Pacers, who improved to 7-2-3 overall and 2-1-2 in OCC-Capital action with the win.

Westerville North 4, Big Walnut 3

In a showdown between the top two teams in the OCC-Capital Division, the host Warriors used a pair of goals in each half to outlast the Golden Eagles Thursday night in Westerville.

Jacob Marshall, who converted a penalty kick, Sam Ernst and Mylo Board accounted for the Big Walnut goals — all three of which came in the second half.

Also: Olentangy 2, Hilliard Darby 1; Reynoldsburg 1, Olentangy Liberty 0; Olentangy Orange 2, Westerville Central 1.
