Josh Heinmiller, Pataskala resident and 2016 graduate of Bishop Hartley High School, has been awarded the sixth annual Tenfold Scholarship from Powell-based advertising agency LaineGabriel.

“We’re thrilled to have Josh as our 2016 Tenfold winner,” said Lisa Laine Miller, LaineGabriel founding principal. “We had numerous entries from very talented students this year, so the judging process was extremely difficult. But what made Josh stand apart from the rest was his passion for many types of art and his talent for creating surreal worlds and unique characters.”

“Being selected for the Tenfold Scholarship means a great deal to me,” Heinmiller said. “The fact that I was chosen from many other artists has given me even more confidence in my skills, and the generous funds will help make college more affordable. I’m very thankful to the LaineGabriel agency for supporting my education.”

Established in 2011, the Tenfold Scholarship provides $1,500 to support a student pursuing higher education in art and design. Heinmiller is starting classes at Columbus College of Art and Design and plans to pursue a career as a freelance illustrator and designer.

Heinmiller learned about the Tenfold Scholarship opportunity through Bishop Hartley High School art teacher Jennifer Douglas, who he credits with being a great help on his path to becoming an artist.

LaineGabriel’s Tenfold Scholarship was started with the goal of supporting students and honoring teachers who make a difference. The idea for the scholarship was inspired by two of Miller’s high school art teachers who helped her pay for her first college courses.

“We are passionate about supporting arts education,” said James Gabriel Brown, LaineGabriel founding principal. “This is our way of honoring those who have supported us and giving back to the community through helping future artists. We have kept in touch with many of our past scholarship winners, and it’s wonderful to see them succeed.”

LaineGabriel staff participate in the Tenfold Initiative throughout the year by speaking to area schools about careers in art and design and mentoring students with an interest in this career path.
