Kids caring for kids

For the 10th year, Cub Scout Pack 488/489 presented toys for the children at OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital.

This started a decade ago as the scouts reached out looking for an opportunity to do a community service project, according to Heidi Peterson, women’s health services for Grady.

“They are always so gracious, and excited to give each year,” Peterson said. “Some come wrapped with big bows, and those gifts will last all year for our visiting children.”

The gifts will go to the boys and girls at the hospital in for surgeries, in the emergency department, or when they are getting a new brother or sister in the labor and delivery department at Grady.

“We at OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital are so proud of the relationships we have built within Delaware County over the years,” said Steve Bunyard, President of OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital.

The donations were for children from newborn to teenagers. About 100 items were donated.

“What the Cub Scouts have done for our patients here in the past decade really embodies the season of giving. It is such a wonderful gift each and every year. I know how much it means to our hard working physicians and associates here at the hospital, and for the children of this community,” Bunyard said.

“We can’t thank this local group of scouts enough for all that they do to help families in our emergency room, surgery areas and labor and delivery department.”
