Friends of the Library anniversary

Friends of the Delaware County District Library is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Celebrations will be held at all library branches this month. Following is the schedule: Sunday, Oct. 8, Delaware, 2 to 4 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 14, Ostrander, 2 to 4 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 15, Orange, 2 to 4 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 22, Powell, 2 to 4 p.m. There will be refreshments, games, and face painting. Fired up for First Friday

Main Street Delaware’s October First Friday will highlight fire safety. Local fire trucks will be displayed in downtown Delaware. Live burn and rescue demonstrations will be conducted. The Strand Theatre will host after-hours trivia competition at 9:30 p.m. The Strand will show the classic Christmas film “Die Hard” at 10 p.m. Admission to the trivia competition is free. Pumpkin Palooza at Warrensburg UMC

Pumpkin Palooza is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 at Warrensburg United Methodist Church, 1025 State Route 257 between U.S. 36 and State Route 37. Entertainment will be provided by the M.E.E.K. Quartet. Refreshments that feature all things pumpkin.

Gourd Show opens Friday

The 55th annual Ohio Gourd Show will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. This year’s theme is “The Wizarding World of Gourds.” The show is open from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Gallant Farm’s fifth anniversary

Preservation Parks is celebrating Gallant Farm’s Fifth Anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 7 from noon to 4 p.m. Area residents are invited to see how the 1930s style farm has grown since opening in 2012. Visitors will be able to meet the chicken and sheep that call Gallant Farm home as well as help celebrate with cake, and ice cream. All ages welcome. Cemetery walk set for Sunday

The Delaware County Historical Society presents the Oak Grove Cemetery Walk at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8, 334 S. Sandusky St, Delaware. Guided tours to meet prominent Delawareans buried in the cemetery (as portrayed by reenactors). Tickets required, register at Eventbrite.com. Hunger Walk this Sunday

The Delaware CROP Hunger Walk is planned for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Hamilton-Williams Campus Center at Ohio Wesleyan University. Last year’s walk raised $9,812 to help hungry people in the U.S. and around the world through the work of Church World Service, an interdenominational organization which has been doing walks since 1969. Twenty-five percent of proceeds remain in the local community. This year’s local recipient is People in Need Inc. For information, contact Rev. Meet the Campbell family

“The History of the Campbell Family: Their Home and Church” is planned for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8 at The Arts Castle, 190 W. Winter St., Delaware. Guided tours of the home built by George W. Campbell in 1854 will be available. Tours will continue at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 45 W. Winter St. The church was founded and built by George Campbell’s father-in-law, William Little. St. Peter’s organist and choirmaster Jeff Ward and St. Peter’s youth group musician John Hinton will perform. A reception will be held in St. Peter’s Memorial Garden.

Block party at Delaware Co. Board of DD

The Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities is hosting a Block Party on Sunday, Oct. 8. This event will commemorate 50 years of Ohio County Boards of Developmental Disabilities.
