Free Store to hold annual fundraiser

Delaware’s Common Ground Free Store will have its annual fundraising event, Fashions & Fixin’s, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Hamilton Williams Campus Center.

The event features a barbecue dinner, music, and live and silent auctions, and is anchored by the annual fashion show, an often-uplifting way to show how the Free Store serves the community.

“Our fashion show models wear clothing from the Free Store, and their walk along the ‘runway’ is accompanied by real stories of how people have been helped by the Free Store in the past year,” said Free Store Executive Director Sharon Griner. “It’s always a great way to show the impact the Free Store has in the community.”

In 2023, the Free Store helped more than 1,200 families and, between clothing, housewares, diapers, and meals, distributed more than 168,000 items.

“The need for the Free Store continues to grow, and we’ve been blessed that the support from the community has grown, as well,” said Jeff Robinson, president of the Free Store’s board of directors. “This fundraiser serves as a reminder that it takes all of us working together to ensure the need is met.”

Tickets for Fashions and Fixin’s are available at commongroundfreestore.org.
