Senior forward Holly Counts scored a pair of goals to lift the Ohio Wesleyan women’s soccer team to a 4-0 non-conference win over Adrian on Sunday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.

Senior defender Kaylee DeShong put the Bishops on the scoreboard in the 18th minute. Senior midfielder Ryan O’Neill took a corner kick, then fielded a return pass. O’Neill centered to junior midfielder Avery Curtin, who chipped the ball into the penalty area to DeShong. DeShong’s shot glanced off the bottom of the crossbar and into the net for an early Bishop lead.

Counts made it a 2-0 game late in the first half. Junior defender Halle Dacek made a run up the middle and sent the ball to junior forward Mackenzie Smith, who found Counts inside the box, and Counts finished the chance with 2:30 left in the half.

The Bishops increased the lead early in the second half when junior midfielder Tiffany Trinh played the ball outside to junior forward Ava Bruns, whose cross found Curtin in front for the goal.

Counts wrapped up the scoring in the 78th minute, fielding a pass at the top of the penalty area and whirling to put a shot into the back of the Bulldog net.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Adrian, 26-10. Junior Natalie Ryan had 3 saves during the first 67-plus minutes, and freshman Payton Beard stopped 3 shots during the final 22-plus minutes.
