POWELL — More than 210 people attended the second annual Delaware County Economic Summit on Oct. 3 at the Wedgewood Country Club.

The event featured a host of speakers, including U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Urbana; Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted; and Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague.

Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, Bernie Moreno, also was in attendance.

“As I’ve said before, this summit is being recognized as one of the top economic events in the state of Ohio, and I think the list of attendees and impressive speakers bears that out,” said Delaware County Treasurer Donald E. Rankey Jr., who put on the summit. “Our speakers provided critical information on the future of the Central Ohio economy.”

The other presenters included Ben Ayers, a senior economist at Nationwide, and Dimitri Delis, managing director and senior econometric/macro strategist at Piper Sandler. Nick Fortine, president and publisher of Columbus BusinessFirst, moderated a panel discussion with Rankey; Shawn Keller, CEO of Buckeye State Bank; Kenny McDonald of One Columbus; and Ole Rosgaard, CEO at Greif.

After attending the summit, Jordan said, “The impressive turnout at last week’s Delaware County Economic Summit reflects the strong concerns people have with the current state of our economy. Many thanks to Treasurer Don Rankey and his team for putting together an informative, timely event, as well as to Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted, Treasurer Bob Sprague, Bernie Moreno, and everyone else who participated.”

Husted said, “Central Ohio’s experiencing economic growth like we’ve never seen before, and this summit in Delaware County provided a great opportunity for local leaders to learn more about what it takes to make the most of it.”

The event was sponsored by Buckeye State Bank.
