A new Panda Express is coming to Lewis Center at the Kroger Marketplace shopping center.

LEWIS CENTER — The Orange Township Board of Zoning Appeals met on Sept. 19, where it approved two signage requests.
First was the installation of a monument-style sign at 6520 Pullman Drive. This would be for a Panda Express in the Kroger Marketplace shopping center. It was said this sign would be no different than at other locations across the country. A resident representing a nearby homeowner’s association voiced concerns, but the BZA voted for the conditional use.
The other was for a local dentist to change the sign outside of her office to make it symmetrical. This variance was also approved.
Lastly, the BZA approved allowing an attached garage to encroach into a side yard setback in the Wilshire Estates subdivision.
The BZA consists of Chair Kelvin Trefz, Vice Chair Sue D. Ross, Stacey Neff, Joseph Pax and Panitha Sundar. Meetings are held in the Orange Township Hall, 1680 E. Orange Road, Lewis Center.
In other township news, the Founders Festival was held Sept. 14 at the North Orange Park. The event included a scavenger hunt whose prize was four daily passes to the Aquatic Center. The Operations Department assisted in building The Wall That Heals Ohio at Havener Park in Liberty Township earlier in the month.
On Sept. 5, the “Heroes Not Forgotten” Veterans Memorial was dedicated near the intersection of Orange and South Old State roads.
“At our memorial site, we are committed to honoring the sacrifice, dedication, and service of those who have bravely served our nation,” said the township website. “This sacred space not only serves as a tribute to veterans but also as a place of healing and reflection for their loved ones and the broader community.”
Coming up in Orange: The Fire Department will hold an open house from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 6 at Station 361, 7700 Gooding Blvd., Delaware. The township’s Facebook page said that three firefighters “were sworn in by Trustee Lisa Knapp during yesterday’s (Sept. 18) Board of Trustees’ meeting. The new firefighters will serve a probationary year, during that year they will complete a capstone to earn their official badge.”
The township will also participate in National Wreaths Across America Day, Dec. 14.
Finally, “Trick-or-Treat in Orange Township will be October 31st, 6:00-8:00 p.m.,” said a recent post on Facebook. “Date and time may vary by neighborhood. Contact your HOA for more information.”
