Tiedemann to present Milligan lecture at OWU

Michael Tiedemann, chief executive officer of AlTi Tiedemann Global, will discuss “The Building of a Global Wealth Management Firm” when the 1993 Ohio Wesleyan University graduate presents the 2024-2025 Robert L. Milligan Leaders in Business Lecture.

Tiedemann will speak at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Benes Rooms inside OWU’s Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave., Delaware. The event is free and open to the public.

Tiedemann was a founding partner, CEO, and chairman of the Internal Investment Committee at Tiedemann Advisors, as well as the CEO of Tiedemann Investment Group (TIG), before leading the merger that created AlTi.

Headquartered in New York City, AlTi has offices in nine countries, including 11 sites located throughout the United States. The global wealth and alternatives manager is committed to delivering “transformational ideas, services, and solutions to the most discerning and dynamic owners of capital in the world.”

Early in his career, Tiedemann worked in Brazil with the equity research group at Banco Garantia and, after the firm was acquired by Credit Suisse, he ran the equity sales and trading operations for Latin America.

In addition to his work in the financial world, Tiedemann also is committed to serving others, and both established and served as chairman of the board for RIVER FUND, a nonprofit organization that provides food, education, and support services to help families in New York City break the cycle of poverty.

As an Ohio Wesleyan student, Tiedemann majored in Psychology, played varsity lacrosse, and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, As an alumnus, he has served on the Team OWU Excellence Committee for men’s lacrosse and as a mentor to students through the Woltemade Economics and Business Fellows Program (formerly known as the Economic Management Fellows Program).

Ohio Wesleyan’s annual Milligan Lecture is presented by The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship, which works to enhance teaching, learning, research, and community service at the university. The lecture series was created in 1992 with an endowment gift from Robert L. “Bill” Milligan, OWU Class of 1922, and his wife, Mary Cook Milligan, 2002 honorary alumna, both deceased.
